In January 2023, we announced an exciting decision to sponsor a half bursary at Cranfield University’s Digital Aviation Research and Technology Centre (DARTeC).
This was an important opportunity to contribute towards the aviation industry in a different way to our day-to-day operations – developing and deploying powerful aviation software solutions. With the introduction of this bursary, we wanted to help empower and uplift the next generation of aviation talent.
In September 2023, we checked in on the selected student’s progress, in a short piece introducing them and exploring their experience, interests and aspirations for the future.
Where are we now?
Today, we couldn’t be happier to share an exciting update. We’re pleased to announce that Nimisha Nagarkar, the student awarded the funding from OASES, has this month joined the OASES team in the role of “Domain Expert”.
Hearing from Nimisha
We asked Nimisha about her new role and experience, “I will be working closely in product development, reporting to Andrew O’Connor, the Head of Product Management. I bring a strong background in aircraft maintenance, having earned a Bachelor’s degree in Aviation and Aircraft Maintenance Engineering with a learning experience in an MRO organisation. Additionally, I recently completed a Master’s degree in Aviation Digital Technology Management at Cranfield University, where I developed expertise in the digital transformation of aviation and MRO processes.”
“I was honoured to receive the OASES Scholarship during my study at Cranfield University, which contributed significantly towards my tuition fees.”, said Nimisha when asked about OASES’ contribution to her studies. “This financial support allowed me to pursue my Master’s degree and opened doors to the aviation industry, particularly in the areas of digital aviation, MRO, and MRO Software.”
“I feel immensely grateful and excited to be joining OASES,” Nimisha added, “particularly because of the significant contribution they made towards my MSc through the OASES Scholarship. This opportunity would not have been possible without the support of Paul Lynch, who played a key role in providing me with both financial assistance and the opportunity to break into the aviation industry.”
When asked about the future Nimisha said, “Now, being offered a position at OASES feels like the perfect opportunity to put my knowledge into practice and contribute to the company’s development and efforts in transforming MRO operations through digital innovation and to be a distinct MRO Software in the industry.”
Nimisha’s place in the team
“It’s so exciting to welcome Nimisha to the team, for a number of reasons,” said Andrew O’Connor, Head of Product Management, “having just graduated from one of the most prestigious educational institutions in the world for aviation talent, we can’t wait to see what Nimisha will contribute to our team, products and customer experience.”
When asked about what impact Nimisha’s appointment is likely to have on the future of the OASES offering, Andrew said, “Nimisha brings a fresh new perspective, as well as the most up-to-date ideas and industry knowledge to the team. Collectively, the OASES team have decades of aviation experience, even just within our senior leadership group. This experience is a vital resource, but we’re hopeful that Nimisha’s fresh perspective will give us the best of both worlds – experience paired with the latest thinking.”
“It feels a little like we’ve come full circle,” added Andrew, “The opportunity to offer Nimisha her first job, after OASES having contributed to her studies, is very rewarding for us.”
